  • Port Conservancy powers vested with VANPIC.
  • The Government of Andhra Pradesh has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ras-AI-Khaimah Investment Authority to promote Vadarevu and Nizampatnam port industrial corridor (VANPIC) spreading over 26 km between Nizampatnam and Vadarevu Marine ports on the east-coast. The project to be completed in six years in phases, is likely to spur a wide range of economic activities that would generate employment for more than 50,000 people.
  • Project VANPIC includes development of Nizampatnam and Vadarevu ports, establishment of power complex, industrial corridor and creation of infrastructure facilities all along the coastline connecting both the ports.
  • The integrated approach of the project facilities captive business and assured off takes to each business sector that includes development of 2100 MW power project with an assured cargo traffic of 8 million tonnes per annum of imported coal from the power project. A sizeable traffic is ensured for coal imports for the thermal and cement plans existing in the hinterland of port.
  • With a substantial existence of import / export business in the region for the development of the SEZ, the proposed port site has a naturally well protected bay for the development of an all weather harbour. Proximity to the KG basin oil exploration rigs offers excellent potential for offshore rig repairs and ship breaking business.
  • The proposed facility to come up will have port facility (2000 acres), Power Complex (2500 acres), Industrial Corridor (2500 acres) and associated infrastructural facilities (2500 acres). The associated of the corridor include residential, commercial and storage areas, hotels, utilities and amenities, recreational areas, township, desalination plant and green cover etc.,
  • It is centrally located and well connected to major cities of southern India. The project will be developed jointly by RAS-Investment Authority and Hyderabad-based Matrix Enport Private Ltd in the ration 51:49 respectively.
  • VANPIC, planned at an overall outlay of Rs.16,800 crores (US $ 4.35 Billions), is one of the first new port – based industrial corridors in India. The port is under development.
