MEGHAVARAM PORT (Captive Port) - Govt declared Meghavaram as Minor Port vide G.O.MS.NO 12, I&I DEPT. dt 19-3-2008 It is proposed to develop a captive port at Meghavaram Port in Srikakulam District so as to handle coal and fly ash for the proposed thermal power plant.

Long : 84º 16 ’19.54’’ E. - M/s East Coast Energy Private Limited proposed to import coal to their 2640 MW coal fired thermal plant at Kakarapalli Village.
- Rail connectivity at Noupada at 10 km and road connectivity at Tekkali.
- The port is being developed by M/s East Coast Energy Private Limited with an estimated cost of 600 Crores so as to handle 13.2 Million Tons in XI and XII Five Year Plan.
- During the first Phase 2 berths are programmed to take up by M/s East Coast Energy Private Limited.
- The Port is under the jurisdiction of Port Officer, Kakinada.
Project Cost: - Phase I: Rs.359 crores
- Phase II: Rs.241 crores
