Paradip Port is one of the Major Ports of India  serving the Eastern and Central parts of the country. Its hinterland extends to the states of Orissa, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. The Port mainly deals with bulk cargo apart from other clean cargoes. There is unprecedented growth in the traffic handled at this Port in the last five years and the Port has got ambitious expansion programme to double its capacity to meet the ever increasing demand.

  1. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has cleared the two BOT Projects of Paradip Port for construction of one berth for iron ore exports and another berth for import of Coal. After finalizing the price bids, Concession Agreement will be signed with the successful bidder(s).
  2. The Dry Dock facility at Paradip Port will be opened on 12.01.09. The vessels upto 60 mtrs. LOA, 12mtrs. Beam and 6 mtrs. Draught can be taken up for repairs at this Dry Dock. Apart from Port vessels, other vessels will also be accepted for repairs. M/s Wartsila India Ltd. has been awarded the contract for maintaining the Dry Dock.
  3. Paradip Port handles crude oil for the first time.

    The single Point Mooring (SPM) of Indian Oil Corporation has become operational from 28.12.08 and the Port has already handled two vessels successfully. This facility gives about 15 MTPA crude oil cargo to the Port.

  4. The East Coast Railway have introduced a new Intercity Express from Bhubaneswar to Paradip as a New Year Gift, which has been flagged off by the Chairman, Railway Board Shri K.C.Jena today the 3rd January, 2009. This is a very good facility provided for the employees of the Paradip Port, people of Paradip Port Town, Ports Users and others visiting Paradip Port.

The work "Deepening of the channel" is in progress and is expected to be completed in the year 2009 and after completion of this project, the Port will have a depth of 17.1 Mtrs. to handle vessels up to 1,25,000 DWT.
